Corinthian for the Month of July: William Chan

Kind and Accomodating

These two words are fit to our July Corinthian of the Month. He comes from Isabela, and is currently residing in his house/sari-sari store in Buick St, which was famous to the Corinthians way before he joined. He catered to the Corinthians by serving pancit canton and drinks right after the PMs and SMs. Eventually he was called by God in the 77th Weekend last April.
Now, his good nature is now subordinated by the love of God. Want to know more about him? Read on.

1. What are you feeling within the 3 months of being a Corinthian?

So many things have changed, sobrang naging busy from dati na lagi lang nasa house. From BITTER to BETTER. Before, whenever you see me smiling, it is just a facial expression to mask the sadness inside me, now you’re looking at my True Smile: candid and delightful.

2. What were your impressions in this Organization?

Great, so many things to learn from, and busy weekends.  Achieved naman lahat yung impressions and expectations.

3. What touched you the most during your Weekend?

The way staffers cared for us. I felt very special. After the Weekend I always dreamed na ako naman ang gagawa nun sa new candidates.

What is your motivation?

Actually, napakadami. Number one is Love of God. Second, Love on Corinthian brothers and sisters. So many things pa kaya lang minamadali mo na ako. (LOL)

5. What is your message to the Community?

Stay active and keep serving God, always be cool, don’t rush things ‘cause reward is waiting for those who have patience.

On to our more personal queries

1. You seem to be a busy person, ano ba routine mo sa araw?

This month of June, sobrang dami ng activities and events, at this point lang naman ako naging busy. Right now I’m busy planning and meeting with partners for a new business that we might start on August.

I don’t know, marami kasi pwede mangyari ... Today could be different from yesterday or tomorrow, though one thing won’t change. Alam nyo na yun. Just hope na everything would be good.

3. How often do you talk to God about your life? What are you telling Him?

Everyday. Everyday I’m telling Him a story on what had happened in my life on that day, asking Him to bless me with Strength and Courage to face everyday challenges.

Corinthian for the Month of June: Edrenille Binungcal

Smile!

What more can I say? Rumor has it in the Community, he is very cute! Not only that, he has a good albeit a young heart. Lastly, he is the future of the Music Ministry.

The Corinthian for the Month of June: Edrenille Binungcal

    Here’s more of him:

1.    Hello!

2.    Ano klaseng servant gusto mo maging dito sa Community?

Kahit ano naman okay lang eh. Basta importante sakin makapag-serve ako, to pass on God’s love. Kasama yung ibang Music Min. Kahit bago lang ako, binibigyan nila ako ng chance para to serve God more and more.

Maipapromise ko is to serve willingly kay God. Hindi ako magsasawa makasama ang mga Corinthians. And time pala. Kahit madaming ginagawa I will make time talaga para makapunta lang sa mga Prayer Meetings or magpunta lang sa Corinthians.

Personalan!

1.    Bakit ba ang cute mo?

Halaaaa. Hindi ako cute. (Laughs) Malik-mata niyo lang po yan.

2.    Sa tingin mo sino mas cute sa sayo?

Kuya AJ. Gwapo siya. Idol na idol ko siya eh. (Laughs)

    SMILE ;)

4.    Have you thanked the Lord for the gift of cuteness? How?

Hala.  Ewan? Oo ata. I am blessed.

Corinthians of the Month: Janice Dimaano and Hannah Donato

Dynamic Duo!
This month is a special kind of month. We have two Corinthians of the Month and they are quirky as they are. The Teen Lead and OA of the Corinthian Weekend Batch 77.
This one girl is with a resolve as big as her heart, though she is a very simple girl. But don’t let that fool you ‘cause she’s brainy, athletic, enthusiastic and funny. She is also a player of Arnis. Looks really can be deceiving. –The Overall
The other girl is talented with the performing arts. She plays the guitar and she dances. A young but promising girl, filled with surprises. And I know, she will hate me for this, she is sweet but fierce. –The Teen Lead
Clap your hands, stomp your feet, wake up your neighbours, the Corinthians of the Month are Hannah Donato and Janice Dimaano!

1.Hello. First of all congrats on a very awesome Weekend. How are you feeling about it?
Janice : Thank you! Sobrang saya kasi 13 yung candidates. Eh kasi 13 yung favourite number ko. Tapos sobrang significant niya kasi Friday the 13th.
Hannah: Happy and relieved. I’m just happy na na-accomodate natin sila with the resources. Tapos overwhelming yung help ng mga tao. Kahit mahirap maghanap ng foster, food donor and love offering, God makes up to it through other people.

2. This question is for Hannah, congrats on graduating. What are your plans for the future?
H: Work, come May 7. And continue training, hopefully to join the Philippine Demo Team in the World Martial Arts Festival in Chung Ju, South Korea. So wala pang long term goals. Yun palang, work.

3. Well would it affect your plans to the Corinthian Community? How?
H: Di naman. Attend attend lang like a member does. And weekends naman so I think it will fit in sa sched ko.

4. Now that you’ll soon be a working stiff, madalas ka ba naming makikita sa Core?
H: Normal lang. ‘Di sobrang dalas. ‘Di kasing dalas nung High School or beginning nung College. Basta normal lang. (Laughs)

This question is for Janice.
1.       Do you think you inspired the candidates or was it the other way around? In what way?

J: Uh pwede both?

2.       What was your difficulty during the weekend? The memorable experience?

Saka dun sa talk ko (We are Saved), kasi nahirapan ako mag-share, as in wala akong makitang major problem sa buhay ko. Tapos wala ako ma-share, parang may kulang dun sa talk ko. Memorable, yung first PM and Recon.

H: Difficulty, yung pag-accumulate nung resources (foster etc.) Tapos during the Weekend, yung mga schedule adjustments. Saka syempre yung kaguluhan sa venue and yung physical stuff like nung 2nd day, pabalik-balik ako nung staff room and conference room. Yun yung difficulty. Yung memorable is kahit may mga masamang nangyari parang God helped me come through, beyond me yung nangyari. I didn’t ask for it, dumating lang.

Kasi pag-pray over, maraming voices, and WOW, they care for me and my life. I want the candidates to be reminded of that, that they are never alone kahit maraming problems.

These questions are now for the both of you.
1.       What was your strategy, if any, sa paglead sa team?
H: (Laughs). Nung before the Weekend, nag-paprize money ako for the workshop of the talks. Tapos during the weekend, just inform them kung time na ng talks and staff meeting. Kasi yung staff willing naman sumunod. Siguro ang strategy ko is to do my job well so that they can do their job well. Saka trust them. Ayun

J:  Yung parang, bago mag-weekend, nag-look back to their past mistakes, and to remind the team na mga hindi dapat gawin and others na pwede i-enhance para mapaganda yung service kay God. Tapos we keep the team bonded.

Now onto some random stuff.
1.       If you would be reincarnated after you passed away, what name and race do you want to have?

H: European, British. Naisip ko si Emma Watson eh. Gusto kong pangalan Ella, kasi maganda. Parang ang heavenly. Yes!! Chos. Para hindi dull, parang pag narinig mo kasi Ella, kasi pag naririnig ko Emma, mature kasi, pero pag Ella, ma-iimagine as a kid or an old woman.

J: Race: Irish, wala lang. Parang One Direction (boy band). Joke lang! Gusto ko lang kasi parang ang cool. Tapos yung accent nila. Pero ganun pa rin yung name, I don’t want to change my name (Laughs).

2.       What band or musician do you idolize? Why?

J: Ako ba?! Ako ba?! Hahahahahaha. Malamang kilala mo na,TAYLOR SWIFT! Why? Duh! Ganda ganda niya, and she’s so, parang lahat ng songs bagay sa kanya. Tapos pag banda, Boys Like Girls.

I like how he’s so different.

Si Regina Spektor iba yung songs niya, may ibang feel. Si Adele sobrang talented. Yung mga songs niya sobrang real. May feelings

The Click Five din kasi sobrang talented lang nila. Di ganun ka emotionally attached yung mga songs nila di tulad nila Regina and Adele.

3.       And here’s a trick question, if you get reincarnated, would you like them to still be your idols in your next life? How so?

H: Oo! Oo naman. Kasi si Mika, kasi European siya, so lalo kong mamahalin my own. Ano ba yan?! haha
J:  Oo. Kasi sobrang addict addict ko sa kanya! Sobrang fan ako.

4.       What if hindi, sino replacement niyo?

H: Replacement Idol? Bad trip. Hehe. She and Him.

Yun.

5.       Lastly, message to the fans and haters niyo.

H: Fans ko saka haters ko? Hahahahaha. Fans: wave, smile, wink! Haters: Same thing. Haha! Wave, smile, wink!

J: Fans? Hmm, Thank you? Haha. Thank you very much for inspiring me. Naks!
Haters, Thank you din sa pag-love sakin. Haha. Labo. Thank you sa pagiging critic, dahil dun nagiging strong ako. Haha.

Corinthian of the Month: Romer Acdan

Name: Romer L. Acdan
Nickname: Romer
Batch: 66
Birthday: February 28, 1987

This guy from Buick St. is one of the 2nd generation of servants who continues to contribute to the Corinthian Community. He joined the Corinthians batch 66 in 2007. Romer is a person with ideals but at the same time, has a sense of humility in looking back to the roots of the Community. He demonstrates genuine concern by putting it into action through his Treasurer post and by being the Teen Lead of Batch 77. His eloquence suggests enthusiasm in every activity of the Community especially the Corinthian Weekend. Now that he is Teen Lead let us probe his thoughts about the upcoming Weekend, the Corinthians and many other whimsical things.

You’re a first time Teen Lead, how does it feel?
Excited na kinakabahan. Excited kasi nga first time maging teenlead, bagong experience so may bago na naman akong matututunan.

Every teen lead has an approach in preparing every staff. If it can be revealed, in what ways are you preparing them?
Sa’kin simple lang eh. Di ba nga experience is the best teacher?

Are you pressured on being the voice of the candidates-to-be? If so, how are you dealing with it?
YES!!! Sobra!

Moving on to bigger things, as Treasurer what are your plans for the Community?

If ever, magkano ang gusto mong funds ng Core by the end of the year? At saan mo to paggastusan next year? Bakit?
Kung by the end of the year sana atleast 5-digits [smiles], or money enough para pondohan ang 1st half next year. 2nd half kasi pasko diba? Ipunin na lang yun for next year. Then cycle na lang para hindi tayo nag-ca-cram for funds every event.

As one of the veterans here, what tips can you give to our readers in serving the Lord?
Simple lang. Enjoy what you’re doing. Kasi ‘pag nag-eenjoy ka lahat kasunod na. Kaya mong harapin yung challenges and stuffs. Ikaw na din gagawa ng way para i-continue yung ginagawa mo kahit na nahihirapan ka na, and ikaw na mismo mag-seset ng limitations mo and rules mo what to do and what not to do. In serving lalo na sa weekend nakakapagod pero after nun ibang saya and fulfillment ang mararamdaman mo after.

TV5. Gusto ko kasi under dog eh. 24/7, on air para natural lahat. [laughs]

Any hobbies that you have? Pakikuwento thoroughly and with feelings
Kailangan ba with actions pa? Hehe. Kumain!! Obvious naman sa katawan! Hehehe. Music meaning, making and siyempre mas masaya and masarap pag tinutugtog pa diba?

You’ll probably hate me or laugh out loud to this question. What background music do you want to be played in your life and in what moment?
Hala ang hirap naman nito… In general na lang para walang specific moment in life, siguro: With a Smile by Eheads.

Love our community, Kahit hindi pansin sobrang malaking part ng life natin to. Don’t forget to pray. Respect our parents. Eat your vegetables, brush your teeth, say “No” to drugs. Please support Flower Rangerz and get a copy of our album(s). Hindi naman masamang mangarap diba? Hehehehe

I’m sure we are all rooting for him in the upcoming Weekend and his Secretariat job.

Pick Your Committees!

New year, new month, new people! Now it's time for us to pick the committee we want to join to help out the community. Below are the different committees' descriptions and their respective contact persons. Pick the one you think you can help out with the most and join up! Remember, you can always help out in the other committees so pick pick pick!

First up, we have the Spiritual Committee! The Spiritual Committee is the committee in charge of guiding us in deepening our relationship with God. They organize retreats, recollections, Praise Days, etc. They are also in charge making the weekly Prayer Meetings which includes choosing the right people to handle and the right topic to present. So if you are ready to lead the community in deepening our relationship with God, join the Spiritual Committee!

Contact Person/s:
Vladimir Badong - 09174994628
Janicelle Dimaano - 09068190000
Janinne Pomer - 09275116983

Next, we have the Music Ministry. The Music Ministry is a sub-committee under the Spiritual Committee precisely because they are in charge of making each and every activity that includes prayer all the more solemn, or alive depending on the activity. So if you have a talent for singing, playing any kind of instrument, or simply willing to learn, join the Music Ministry!

Contact Person/s:
Romer Acdan - 09227111309

The Social Committee is the committee in charge of organizing events like fund raising events, team buildings, and parties to further strengthen the bond of the community and to provide the much needed funds for the different activities and events of the community. Last but definitely not the least is the Publicity Committee! The Publicity Committee is in charge of disseminating information of the latest activities the community has planned. They are usually the ones who always have load or who are always online just to give the members a heads up on the coming events. They are also in charge of making posters of such events in order to publicize the events more. So all Photoshop artists and text/chat fanatics, join the Publicity Committee!

Again, anyone and everyone can join a committee to his/her liking. Feel free in choosing a committee that will satisfy your need to grow in the community and in helping others grow as well. Whatever you pick, always remember:

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5: 14-16

Corinthian of the Month: AJ Atienza

Name: Adrian G. Atienza
Nickname: AJ
Batch: 54
Birthday: March 20, 1989

Why do you want to be the Chairman of the CYM?
I think most of you know how much I love this community and that is the primary reason why I wanted to be the chairman. I want to lead the community in reaching its goal, in fulfilling its mission which is to pass on God's love.

What are your plans for the community for this year?
I want to have more active members for the community and those active members will experience a deeper relationship with God through prayer meetings. At the end of the year, I want the community to have enough funds to support all the activities of the community. We will have lots of activities that will bond us and will make us better Christians.

What will you do to achieve these plans?
I will make a strong and powerful secretariat because they are the ones who will lead the community in achieving its goals.

Do you think being the chairman will be hard for you?
Yes, of course I know that there will be lots of challenges to encounter but I also know that I am not alone, I have Him and the secretariat and together, we'll face those challenges with a smile.

How will you encourage the people to attend the prayer meetings and convince them to stay active?
I want every member of the community to know that we still have prayer meetings every Sunday and then we will improve the quality of our prayer meetings so that they will continue to attend every Sunday.

What can you say about the current state of our parish and our community?
Last few years were not that good, I mean because we did not have a spiritual adviser and we were not recognized as an established youth organization by our own parish. But this year, I believe that it will not be the same, with Fr. Jun as the parish priest and Fr. Ciloi as the spiritual adviser for the youth, I think we will have a good relationship with our own parish and with other communities.

What traits do you have that makes you suitable to be a chairman?
Haha. This is a good question. I really really believe that I have this one trait that is different from the past chairmen that I think will best make me a good chairman, and that is my being BUDOY. Seriously, because I am close to everyone and I am fun to be with, I think that will make me suitable to be a chairman.

Being a chairman, what do you expect from the secretariat and the other members of the community?
You know what, my only dream for all the members is that they learn how to love the community as I have loved it and I expect that from the secretariat.

Would you rather eat or sleep forever?
I'd rather eat than sleep forever. There's no fun in sleeping, you don't feel anything, unless of course if you are dreaming, but that doesn't happen every time you sleep.

What kind of animal would you like to be and why?
I want to be a dolphin because I love the ocean. I want to explore the underwater communities.

If you had a Geinie, what would be your 3 wishes?
First, I want to be a saiyan like Goku. Hahaha. Second, I want to be rich like Richie Rich. Third, I want to have another genie that will give me another three wishes.
